In a mysterious way, mothman tattoos symbolize uniqueness. Tattoo designs of mothmen feature human bodies, moth heads, and wings. The tattoo is usually depicted by other people as a representation of a mysterious and beautiful world. Symbolizing self-identity, mothman tattoos are curious, mysterious and full of mystery. The designs are simple, artistic, black and white, colourful, and completely customizable.
Cute Mothman Tattoo
Strange and often inexplicable events have occurred in West Virginia. Indrid Cold and the Flatwoods Monster visited the area. When the Mothman swooped in on a cold autumn night in 1966, he changed the sleepy little town of Point Pleasant forever.
Sexy Mothman Tattoo
The Mothman Prophecies, a book by John Keel (later adapted into a film) made Mothman famous around the world. As part of Destination America’s Mountain Monsters, the Mothman is also hunted.
This sexy design is perfect as a small design on the wrist or even ankle.
Mothman Pin Up Tattoo
There is no one specific meaning for these tattoos, as they are traditional tattoos. An image of a girl is drawn on a body part in a pin-up tattoo. The pinup girls are also seen on the bodies of women with new designs of tattoos.
Neo Traditional Mothman Tattoo
A Neo-Traditional tattoo consists of bold outlines, a bright, yet limited color palette, and little shading. There are many similarities between this type of tattoo and American Traditional tattoos, but the imagery is less restricted and the designs have a greater depth of dimension.
Simple Minimalist Mothman Tattoos
These designs are often drawn in black ink, and are good for geometric tattoos featuring shapes and lines, or for recognizable tattoo concepts, such as moon tattoos and feather tattoos.
Small Mothman Tattoos
People have grown fond of the Mothman because of the positive theory that depicts him as a helpful entity. The tale of the Mothman intrigues many people, even if they do not believe in it. An adaptation of The Mothman Prophecies starring Richard Gere was released in 2002.
It didn’t take long for people to start sharing their own theories and sightings online after the internet became a popular communication tool by the early 2000’s. The Mothman appears in an episode of The X-Files from 2005. The Mothmen are refered to in this episode as a species, not as a single creature.
The Silver Bridge collapse and surrounding Mothman theories are Georgia Hardstark’s story for the week on her podcast My Favourite Murder.
Sleeve Filler Tattoos
These cute Mothman designs are perfect for a filler design for a bigger sleeve.
Leg Tattoos

An advantage of leg tattoos is that you can easily conceal them under your clothes, yet they stand out from the crowd. Leg tattoos are suitable for men who want a large, intricate design or a small, minimalist one.

Where did the myth of the Mothman begin?
A Mothman sighting was first reported in 1966 near the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. A man-like shadowy figure flew over the heads of five men digging a grave in Clendenin on November 12, that same year. A 10-foot-tall, glowing-red-eyed black figure chased Roger and Linda Scarberry and Steve and Mary Mallette in their cars three days later on November 15. There was also a similar incident near Point Pleasant near a former World War II munitions site called “TNT Area.”
Sightings increased over the next year. The first mention of him in a newspaper came in the Point Pleasant Register on November 16, 1966, with the headline: “Couples See Man-Sized Bird… Creature… Something.” Later an anonymous Ohio newspaper copy editor dubbed him “Moth Man,” likely to sound similar to Batman.
The Mothman was believed to live in a vacant nuclear power plant near town, once home to a top-secret government testing facility for nuclear weapons. Did the government tamper with the Mothman? Weapons testing’s winged manifestation? Legends were created as imaginations ran wild.
